    Description

    PLEASE READ THIS DESCRIPTION
This is an Antique circa 1915 WWI Navy Torpedo Net Patent Model Wooden Ship Model & Case. This model is 5 feet long and very well constructed. You may notice the ship does not have a lot of deck details or a smokestack, that is because the purpose of this model is to demonstrate the side torpedo net mechanism not the model ship.
Though the ship model itself is not covered in detail it is still a very accurate and well-made model ship as you can see in the photos. The torpedo net mechanism is actually operable with the cranks at the rear of the superstructure though some of the ropes that raise and lower the side nets need to be restrung. This model had been in storage for several decades until found in the Bay Area fairly recently. It includes the Original wooden case that was used to carry it for the demonstration to various Naval shipyards and merchant marine businesses circa 1915. I keep using the 1915 date because underneath the hatch on the deck it says 1915 and it does correlate with the research I’ve done online regarding this particular design.
Overall a Very unusual model ship that probably should be in a museum and a unique piece of naval engineering history.
