I'm selling my Chinon Pacific 200/8XL Direct Sound Super 8mm camera, purchased in the 80s when I was in film school in L.A., and used to make many movies over the years. This is simply a great camera in very good used condition, kept in its custom hard shell case.
This is a top of the line Super 8 camera, one of the best Chinon ever made, with a crisp 8x zoom/macro lens and exceptional build quality. This camera has all the bells and whistles, and is incredibly versatile for live action or animation. It even has a multi-speed interval timer for time-lapse, and 72 frame lap-dissolve. Accepts silent and sound cartridges, 50 ft. cartridges AND 200 ft. magazines.
Film speeds: 18fps, 24fps, 25fps, and 36fps slow motion.
I tested the camera with batteries and all functions appear to be working, including all film speeds, indicator lights and motorized zoom. Oh, and it's whisper quiet.
The camera worked perfectly when last used. However, like any 40 year old piece of electronics, I would recommend a routine cleaning/servicing. I'm selling it as-is, because I have not run any film through it recently. The camera is missing the original rubber eye cup, but the viewfinder works fine without it. There is a Tiffen filter mount on the lens that accepts universal square filter inserts.
