    Description

Vintage Bob Scriver Chalkware- Hydrocal Buffalo (1950s). Hydrocal is a very hard version of plaster. Robert Macfie Scriver (1914 - 1999), born in Montana on Blackfoot Reservation. Taught himself taxidermy. Started sculping small animals at age 6. Didn't become a full time sculpter until age 46, as he had been a musician. Bob's bronze sculptures are famous. Specializing in cowboys, animals and people. Bob was a master mold maker. Needing control over his creations he opened his own foundry. Plaster keys were made of each bronze incase the mold was ruined. This may be one of the chalk ware pieces. There is paint damage on the reverse side as it would be in the process. I really don't know. But this is in very good previously owned condition otherwise. Early to mid 1950's.  Hard to find. Very collectable.
Buffalo stands 5" high, is 6-1/2" long and is about 2-1/2" wide. Photos are original item up for bid. No returns. Thanks for looking.
