great display piece. for any collector. this is 45" long and 10" wide from base to top mast 19" tall. the only other model of the Mount Washington i could find that even comes close to this was found at Dover's Woodman Museum, i do not know who built this one but they did an amazing job on all the details. you may need to reattach 2 or 3pegs, very easy fix. and string with peg is down behind one paddle wheel i did not try to pull it out. other than that its all there and in good condition.Maritime historian, model-maker, and optometrist Clyde L. Whitehouse (1889—1969) made a model of the famous Mount Washington paddle steamer, which had cruised Lake Winnipesaukee since 1872. On the night of Dec. 23, 1939, Clyde put the final finishing details on this model then went to bed. The next morning's headlines were "Steamer Burns at Weirs!" The Mount Washington had been totally destroyed while tied at the dock. Its hull was stuck in the muddy lake bottom and it couldn't escape the flames coming from a nearby railway station. A new steamer was launched in 1941, clydes ship is in the museum on display. would prefer pick up or you must arrange to have it picked up, located in northeast Philadelphia just off 95 or pa turnpike.
