Description

vintage wooden boat, as shown. came from a coastal Connecticut estate with a model ship collection spanning over a century.
Please see images for current condition and patina from age. the bowsprit appears to have been repaired at some point past and could use a quick touch of paint to help cover. the front sails are left off of weathervane models to keep all wind behind the point of rotation.  If you look at other examples of wooden ship weathervanes, this is common. It's assumed this was a backyard weathervane, likely mid 20th century.  The sail is painted aluminum.   Measures 32" long and 27" height including the stand.
This boat is marked LA Dunton, Mystic CT, a historic fishing schooner.  it had a note that it was built by the captain of USN Tush and Swordfish.
